Sponsorship Opportunities
Cheakamus Centre receives no direct funding from the Ministry of Education. We depend entirely on a combination of program fees, private rental sales and philanthropy to fund our annual operating budget. Contributions are critical to
fulfilling our mission to offer outstanding environmental education
programs. To support this work, we are actively seeking sponsors and
partners for a range of initiatives including: cabin enhancement, farm
expansion, garden development, and sustainability programs.
For more information on our sponsorship opportunities please contact Cathy Jenkins at 778.772.0157 or by email: cjenkins@sd44.ca
School Garden Friend - $2,500
Cheakamus Centre's newly constructed gardens provide an exciting seasonal opportunity to engage students in the seed to harvest process. From preparing beds and sowing seeds, to sampling the various produce throughout the year, students benefit from experiencing how our food is grown. Your support as a "School Garden Friend" will ensure programs are supported with required equipment, tools and materials for use by both students and staff working in the garden programs.
Outdoor School Farm Friend - $5,000
The Outdoor School farm relies on program fees and the generosity of many to provide quality programs for children, adults and families. The farm and garden programs provide participants with much needed information and experiences related to food systems, animal husbandry, community engagement and environmental stewardship. By joining the "Farm Friends", you will help Cheakamus Centre maintain the Outdoor School farm to ensure it serves as an important agricultural educational resource.
Head Counsellor - $10,000
The Head Counsellor is a key member of the Outdoor School program staff. The Head Counsellor acts as a role model and mentor for high school volunteers and visiting students. They assist with outdoor activities, field studies, and foster a strong connection with their peers. By supporting the Head Counsellor, you will help youth develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding to become effective community leaders and environmental stewards.
Outdoor School Kids' Bursary - $15,000
With the assistance of the Outdoor School Alumni Society, Cheakamus Centre provides bursaries for school children who otherwise would not be able to attend Outdoor School due to financial barriers.
The Outdoor School Kids' Bursary program ensures no child misses out on a valuable learning experience and an opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime. A full sponsorship provides for approximately 50 children to attend Outdoor School for a week -- which is the average amount requested from schools for student bursaries each year.
Farm Tractor - $20,000
The Outdoor School farm is in need of a small tractor for grounds and area maintenance - snow removal, manure handling, feeding animals, and loading and hauling materials around the farm. Your gift of a tractor will greatly help our small core staff and volunteers who look after the farm and gardens year-round.
A vibrant farm provides students and visitors with a safe and valued place to interact with nature, learn how to grow food and to taste fresh vegetables. The farm plays a vital role in helping young people begin to make the connection between supporting local farmers and the food on our tables.
