Field School offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in educational experiences that are inspired by nature. Utilizing the Centre’s 165 ha ecological preserve, these experiences take place in an extensive network of trails, ancient forests, spawning channels, ponds, a teaching hatchery and working farm. Visiting groups have choice when it comes to activities, which includes a range of seasonal field studies, outdoor skills, outdoor recreation, leadership, team building and evening programs. With input from visiting teachers, Cheakamus Centre staff will design a hands-on program that creates a memorable outdoor learning experience for students and staff alike.

Designed around 5 Guiding Principles, our curriculum-based programs seek to connect students to themes of Place, Inquiry, Community, Personal Connections and First Peoples’ Perspectives.

Through cabin-living, communal meals and building connections with peers, Cheakamus programs aim to develop a sense of community amongst groups. Cheakamus staff focus on inclusion and ensuring that everyone feels welcome and supported throughout our programs.
